Victoria Garden is also known as Lokmanya Tilak Baug. This is a very popular public park set along the Riverfront at Ellisbridge, near the vibrant Sunday market, Ravivari. It was one of the first traditional Gujarati markets in Ahmedabad. The market dates back to the 1950s and is a witness to the historical and traditional importance of Ahmedabad. This historic public park was named after Queen Victoria when it was first built during the British colonial period. Her statue used to be placed at the center of the garden. However, the statue of Queen Victoria is now placed in the Sanskar Kendra Museum. The 23,000 square meter landscape has numerous trees that attract so many birds and roosting bats. It has fountains, a play area for children, and exercise equipment for adults.
The garden has a “statue of Tilak”. It is the most crowded place on weekends. The place is serene, and it is the perfect low-budget destination to enjoy with family. With the natural beauty, the garden provides an escape for body and mind, making it the best place to spend quality time.

When was garden built?
Officials from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s garden department claim that on May 31, 1897, a group of influential citizens proposed creating the park as a tribute to Queen Victoria.
