Places to visit in Mount Abu
Nakki Lake
This Lake is very large and awesome. You can spend perfect evening with partner, friends or family here. Boating facility is also available here. Sunset view and surrounded area with mountains increase lake’s beauty. It is perfect place to save memory in photos. It is near to main market and hotels. Recently in 2006-2007 Nakki lake was granted a huge financial boost for its protection amongst eight other lakes in India.
Lake name has a mythological story. It is believed that Devta(Hindu God) dugged this lake by their nails(nakh). So Lake name is “Nakki Lake”.
Sunset Point
You can lost yourself in natural view at this place. Just see and feel relax and calm.
Gurushikhar
Gurushikhar is highest peak point in whole Aravalli. Its hight is 1722 meter from sea level. Gurushikhar gives you breathtaking view. There is a temple of Guru Dattatreya at Guru Shikhar. its a historical and heritage sight to visit.
Delwara Jain Temple
This jain Temple has marble carvings. Its architecture is unique. Ceiling and Pillars are also impressive. This is built between 11th and 13th century. It is attractive place specially for Jain people. Photography is not allowed inside the temple. It has five sections:
- Shri Mahaveer Swami Temple
- Shri ParshavNath Temple or Khartar Vasahi Temple,
- Shri AdiNath Temple or Vimal Vasahi Temple
- Shri Rishabdaoji Temple or Peethalhar Temple
- Shri NemiNathJi Temple or Luna Vasahi Temple
Anchalgadh
Achalgarh (Anchalgadh) is just 8 Kilometers from the main Mount Abu town. It is surrounded by massive battlement walls. Located at top of a steep winding path. There is Jain Temple with beautiful sculpture.
There is Achleshwar temple also below the path. It was built in 9th century around the toe-print of Lord Shiva.
Adhar Devi
This Temple is dedicated to the Goddess Durga. And situated three kilometers north of the main town of Mount Abu. You reach here 365 stairs carved into the mountain. It is difficult to climb so I suggest you wear comfortable cloth and footwear. People more visit during the 9 days of the holy Navratri season here.
Trevor’s crocodile Park & Wildlife Sanctuary
This tourist place is 5 kilometers from the main town of Mount Abu. Name come from British engineer who built it. There are plentiful wildlife in their natural habitat. This adventurous park has pigeons, peacocks and partridges etc.
Gaumukh
This is also amazing temple. best place for religious pilgrimages and meditation. It is dedicated to Saint Vashishth. There is a tank called Agni Kund.
The Gaumukh Temple attracts religious pilgrims who hold the cow as a sacred animal. Next to the temple, there is a spring believed to have gushed forth from a rock resembling a cow’s head. There is a large marble statue of cow. The bull represents Nandi, the vehicle of Shiva.”The marble bull’s mouth has a stream of water flowing from it. There are statues of Nandi, Saint Vashishth, Lord Ram, and Lord Krishna nearby.
The Gaumukh Temple is around 5 kilometres from the Hanuman Temple. The area is in dense forest. If you visit here, I suggest you avoid rainy season and you should have sufficient knowledge and local guidance. Best Time to Visit Mount Abu
October to February is best time to enjoy hill station view but during this months you face little crowd here. Apart from this months it is calm and weather is normal not over cool and not over hot. Some people visit in summer to feel relax and cool.
